The Alec games

Where can I find information about the Learning objectives of a game?

Click on Catalog . Then click on a thumbnail to read its description, which includes the learning objectives.

Is each game autonomous ?

Yes, each game can be played independently of the others.  

Where can I find the instructions?

Click on the fox hiding in the bottom left corner of each game and listen to the instructions.

How are the games classified?

The games are sorted into seperate burrows (holes), which are classified by:

  • Levels (grades),
  • Subjects (Math and English),
  • Chapters (Geometry, Conjugation, etc.). 

Use your mouse (computer), your finger (tablet), or the blue arrows to go up, down, or change collections. Buckle up, it's time to start! 

Can I personalize the games?

Yes! We have programmed certain games so that you can personalize them with your own questions and answers. These customizable games are visible in the Create my own games section of the teacher dashboard.
Once your game is configured, you can share it with your students using the usual assignment tool.
This option is not accessible to families.

                                           

What do we win?

Treasure! You earn a gold paw for each correct answer and a knowledge stone every five correct answers. These rewards allow you to unlock beautiful accessories for your avatar and receive badges.

                                                     

Connection

How do I access the games?

Technical specifications:

  • To play with Alec, you will need:
    A computer, tablet, or iPad (updated with the latest version of iOS)
  • An Internet browser (Google Chrome or Safari, preferably)

Your login information

  • If you are a student, go to en.alec-edu.com, click on PLAY and enter your class code.
  • If you are a teacher or administrator, log in to the Connection page with your credentials (email + password), then click the PLAY button within your dashboard.

What is a class code?

It is an access code for students. It is composed of four characters printed in a green label.

Code Classe

The code is the same for all students in the same class. You can display it in a large format in the classroom or share it with parents. By the way, we have prepared a letter to parents for you.

You can find this class code:

  • Click on Manage my classes section of your dashboard and select a class. The class code for this specific class is displayed to the right of the class name. 
  • To copy the class code, click on the green label. The code will be copied automatically, ready to be pasted wherever you want.

How can I recover my password?

If you have forgotten your password, don't panic. Take a deep breath, then:

  • On the Connexion page, click the Forgot your password? link.
  • Follow the instructions to reset your password.

                                             

How do I connect to my administrator account?

Are you the administrator for your Alec's school account? If so, you are the key holder! You should have received your login credentials via email. 

  • Connect to the Connexion page.
  • Enter your email address and password.

If you did not receive your password or if, for some reason, nothing happens, send us a message by clicking here!

How do I connect to my teacher account?

First connection?

The administrator of your school or an eduMedia representative must send you an invitation via email. 

  • In the invitation email, click the Activate my account button.
  • Choose your password and log in. That's it! Your account is active!

You already activated your account?

  • Go to the Connection page.
  • Enter your email address and password as you defined them during your first connection.  

If you do not know your administrator, please contact us and provide the name of your school.

                                                     

How do I log out?

  • In your dashboard, click on your name or profile in the top right corner.
  • In the games menu, click on the avatar in the top right corner.

Click the "Log Out" button. 

Teacher management

How can teachers be invited to create their accounts?

Only the administrator of the School can invite teachers from their school.

To do so, the administrator should sign in here.

  • Once you are logged in, click the Invite teachers button:

                                                 

  • Click  and enter the email addresses of the teachers to be invited.
  • An email will then be sent to the invited teachers so they can activate their accounts. Tell them to check their spam folder for this email.

How do I delete an educator account?

If you are the administrator of the Alec account of your school, you can delete a teacher account if it has not yet been activated or if the instructor does not have an active class. In all other cases, please contact us.

Can I hide the names of the cycles?

You don't want your students to see which cycles they play?

Yes, it's possible! When creating your class, if you select several levels/grades, this button will appear:

                         

Check this option. Your students will not see in which grade level they are playing.

                                             

Class management

How do I assign a game?

Go to your class page.

  • Click to assign a list of games to the whole class.
  • Click to the right of the student's name to assign games specific to that student. 

You will then be redirected to the homework assignment page.

  • Browse the catalog by subject and category.
  • Click on a thumbnail to view the description of a game (concepts covered, teaching objective, instructions).
  • Some games are customizable. You can configure your questions. Look for this little icon on the thumbnail
  • Don't forget to click to add a game to your selection of assignments.

The name of the game will appear in the small Assignments window to the right of the list of thumbnails. You can assign a maximum of five games. To see what your students will see when they arrive on the platform, click PLAY.

How do I create a class?

  • Click on Manage my classes on your dashboard.

                                       

  • Click
  • Enter the name of your class and select its level.
  • Select all the options you need. You can modify your settings later.
  • Then, click and a class code will be automatically generated by a complicated algorithm known only to the elves!

                                                                   

How do I modify or delete a class?

  • Select the class that you want to modify.
  • Click .
  • Choose the option that suits you (edit the name, level, or delete). 

Can I program the game to announce the instructions when it launches?

Certainly! This option is part of the settings:

                   

When checked, students won't have to click on the little fennec fox icon in the bottom left corner of their screen to hear the instructions before starting to play. Alec, the fennec fox, will pop-up right away.

                                           

How can I access the Statistics section to track my class's progress?

From your dashboard, click Manage my classes, then click on the class of your choice.

Click the Statistics tab. This button only appears if you have enrolled students in the class.

Is it possible to disable the sounds in a game?

There is a mute button in each game, but you can mute all games at once in your class settings.

                             

We distinguish between ambient sounds that you can disable and sounds that are essential for the game's pedagogical objectives. Keep in mind that only the former can be muted.

Student management

How do I add students to my class?

You can enroll a student from your teacher dashboard. You need to creat a class first, even if there will be only one student in the class. Click on Add students...

                               

Enter the student's identifier directly (first name, initials, or a nickname).

Note: Each student entry must be entered on a separate line. To avoid storing unnecessary personal data, we invite you to enter only the first name, initials, or a nickname.

How can a student's profile be modified or deleted?

If you would like to modify an existing student profile (change the avatar or correct the username), or delete the profile, click on his or her name in the class table.

                                                       

How does the child know that he has homework to do?

When the child logs in with their Class Code, the homework panel appears with the list of assigned games. It looks like this:

                     

How can you track a student's progress?

  1. In the Statistics panel, select the level (burrow) and the period you want to view.
  2. Click on your student's name.
  3. A new table will appear, giving you access to more specific data for this student, such as the number of paws collected, the percentage of success, and the time spent on each game. The class average is indicated in parentheses.
  4. Clicking on the name of a game will give you additional data, such as all your student's success rate by level and the time spent on each level.

How can I tell if my student has done their homework?

When choosing the burrow (level) in your statistics menu, click on the "assignments" category. For each child who played, you will see statistics appear next to their name. If the data is not available for one of your students, you will know who has played a trick on you! ;)

Family account

How do I add a child?

Once you are connected, click on your name in the top right corner. Then click on Edit the profiles.

                                       

Enter the child's first name, the maximum screen time you want to allow for playing, and their school grades. Your child can also choose his or her avatar.

You can add up to three player profiles per Family account.

I would like to unsubscribe from your gaming platform.

You can cancel your subscription at any time. Connect to your account and click on your name to open your parent dashboard.

Click on My membership. You'll find a button Cancel my subscription.

You will then be directed to a special page where you can specify the reasons for your departure and click on the "Unsubscribe" button. Your subscription will be canceled immediately.

This option is available with the monthly Family subscription. The one-year purchase is not a subscription. You cannot cancel a one-year purchase; it will expire automatically after one year.

Is it possible to limit screen time?

Of course! To do so, click on your child's name in your profile. You will then have the option to choose the maximum screen time that you want to allow your child to play Alec.

How can I follow my child's progress and success?

  • Once you are logged in to your profile, click on the Statistics option in the Profile tab.
  • Once you are on the statistics screen, choose your child's name (if you have more than one child registered), the period you want to view, and their level.
  • Once you have made these selections, the statistics will appear. Each percentage corresponds to a color ranging from red to green, indicating your child's success rate for a given game. The arrows in the blue banner allow you to sort the data in ascending or descending order.

How can I recover my password?

  • On the Connexion page, click the Forgot your password? link.

  • An Internet browser (Google Chrome or Safari, preferably).

  • A parent should log in first to the Connection page with your email. Accept all cookies so that your child won't need to sign in later on your device.
  • If your child comes home with a class code provided by his or her teacher, you have to go to the Class Code Page
